How to Change the World. One Compliment at a Time.

As a teacher, I am always looking for ways to make life better for my students. Several years ago I had an idea to see if I could connect with my students in a way like nobody ever had. Three years after I first had the idea, we had a program in place in my class. What happened next, changed my life...

This project has reinforced my understanding of the effect we educators (and really, all people) have on other people around us. What really struck me though, was that we can actually improve the moods of the people around us in a profound way.

The three most important things I've learned so far:

  • Compliments change lives. Go ahead, spread them around, they are free!

  • Students are human beings. Sometimes we forget how complex and tortured the teenage years can be.

  • Show kids you care and they will change your life.

So, here is your chance to change the world, and all it is going to cost you is a compliment or two...
